Short Biography: 

Dr. Konstantinos Kotis graduated from the department of Computation at University of Manchester (UMIST), UK, in 1995. He obtained his PhD of Engineering in Information Management (in the area of AI, Knowledge Management and Representation) from Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering, University of the Aegean, Greece, in 2005. He also worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Artificial Intelligence Lab of the same department for one year (2005-2006). From 2006 to 2010 he also worked there as a lecturer and researcher. Konstantinos also works as an IT manager of governmental local authority organization since 2000. His research interests are: Knowledge representation and management, Ontology Engineering, Semantic Web and its applications. He has published 12 papers in international journals, 11 papers in major conferences and much more in other international fora, with a total of more than 40 publications. Up to date, there are 160 citations to his work recorded. Dr. Kotis is a member of the Hellenic Artificial Intelligence Company. In addition, he has served as a reviewer in several international journals and conferences and a member of program committees also. He has served as a guest editor in the special issue of Intelligent Systems for Engineering Environmental Knowledge (i-SEEK) of the International Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Information Systems) and as an organizer of i-SEEK 2009 workshop in Japan (CISIS 2009 conference). Recently he has been awarded an one-year ERCIM research fellowship (Marie Curie, ABCDE program) starting Dec. 1st, working on ‘semantic interoperability and smart environments’ at VTT, Finland. Also, he has been participating in several ERCIM Research Exchange and ERASMUS LLP-teaching programs (e.g. Poland, Austria).
